Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) was founded in 2015 with the vision of being a leading science high school promoting wisdom, research, and technology for the nation’s sustainable development. The name Kamnoetvidya, which means “the genesis of knowledge,” was bestowed on the school by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. KVIS is financially supported by the Power of Learning Foundation with an endowment fund provided by the PTT Group of Companies to ensure the sustainability, prosperity, and longevity of the academy. The school is situated in the PTT Group Research and Educational Park, Wangchan Valley. VISTEC, a research university, and the Wangchan Forestry Institute are also located in this park. KVIS is a boarding school and offers specialized curricula that emphasize mathematics, science, and technology to students from years 10 to 12. Only 72 talented students are admitted each year for a total student body of 216 students. All of these students are on full, 3-year scholarships. One of the outstanding features of this school is its small-sized classrooms of 18 students. Small classes enable teachers to cater to each individual’s learning style and thus provide customized education to the students. In March 2018, the first cohort of students will be graduating. To mark this auspicious event, KVIS is organizing the 1st KVIS Invitational Science Fair, which will be held from Monday, 29 January to Friday, 2 February 2018. This event will provide a timely platform for the graduating class of 2018 to showcase their science projects, through both oral and poster presentations, to like-minded students from local and international-partner schools. In addition, the science fair will promote an atmosphere of scientific exchange, friendship, and future collaboration among students and teachers in attendance.
1.Provide a platform for all graduating KVIS students to present their research findings. 2.Invite students from partner schools and associated schools to visit KVIS and share their research findings. 3.Provide a platform for KVIS teachers, teachers from partner schools, and teachers from associated schools to share their teaching practices and experiences. 4.Foster collaboration among students and teachers at national and international levels.
The students and teachers from the international-partner science schools in 10 countries are invited. The students and teachers from Thai science classrooms and schools are also invited. The total number of 260 participants are expected to join the event.
